“Shuruaat” bus flagged-off from IITD

As a part of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit GES2017, Niti Aayog and IIT Delhi flagged off the "Shuruaat" bus on Tuesday.

This year, the 8th annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES 2017) is being held in Hyderabad on November 28-30. The Summit is being organized in partnership between the US government and NITI Aayog.

The "Shuruaat" Bus, an official ‘Road to GES’ initiative, will embark on a journey across India to empower citizens to become creators of wealth and jobs, and move the needle on the SDGs through entrepreneurship, by leveraging the excitement around GES 2017.

Speaking at the inauguration Niti Ayog Chairman Mr. Amitabh Kant said this was an excellent platform to pitch ideas, interact with successful entrepreneurs and hear inspiring stories. “India faces huge challenges. There is a need to build an ecosystem for imagination and innovation. The ecosystem prepared by the IITs is unparalleled. We need to bring grand challenges. India must become a job creator.”

Expressing happiness that bus was being flagged off from IIT Delhi, institute director Prof V Ramgopal Rao said there were plans to soon start a PhD incubator so that technologies can become products. “ India has many problems and we need technologies at an affordable cost.

The bus will travel through the country, creating buzz and momentum at road to GES events, incubators, start up hubs, and colleges, before arriving in Hyderabad.

During these pit stops, activities will be hosted in and around the bus, including pitch competitions, engaging interactions with established entrepreneurs, innovative product demos, interviews, entertainment and awareness camps about government initiatives and incubation opportunities for young, aspiring entrepreneurs. On-ground activation will be accompanied by mass digital outreach through media campaigns, electronic media coverage, and the production of a documentary to capture the journey.

This official Road to GES initiative will reach millions, and inspire and activate many to become entrepreneurs and social change-makers.
