Logo Design Competition for SATHI

The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India is setting up a shared, professionally managed, science and technology infrastructure facility, named as "Sophisticated Analytical Technical Help Institute (SATHI)".This will have state-of-the-art instruments and facilities for carrying out cutting-edge research.

This facility will be accessible to academia, R&D laboratories, start-ups, manufacturing units and industries. In the first round, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur and BHU have been selected to establish three SATHI centres. The SATHI centres will be equipped with major analytical instruments and advanced manufacturing facilities. A competition is being organized to design a logo for SATHI centres.

(i) Terms and Condition for Logo Design Contest

1. The competition is open to all registered students of IIT Delhi.
2. All Entries must be submitted by 21st Feb 2020. All entries must be submitted by iitd email ids. Entries submitted through any other medium/mode would not be considered for evaluation.
3. Entries should be emailed to hcrf@admin.iitd.ac.in with the subject "LOGO for SATHI". No other subject line will be entertained.
4. Multiple submissions of logos by the same participant would not be considered.
5. The logo design must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 or the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party. The logo should not have been previously published in any print and digital media and must not contain any provocative, objectionable or inappropriate content.
6. All entries are governed by the provisions of Emblems and Names (Prevention of improper use) Act, 1950 and any violation of the said Act will result in disqualification.
7. In case of any copyright issues or any other similar issues, the participant/applicant will be responsible to settle any legal proceedings arising out of it at his/her end. DST or IIT Delhi will not be responsible for any such issues.
8. Plagiarism of any nature is not allowed. Anyone found infringing upon others' copyright would be disqualified from the contest.
9. The participant must mention his / her name, entry number, mobile number and e-mail ID. Entries with incomplete profiles would not be considered.
10. There will be no notification to participants of rejected entries.
11. IIT Delhi if it so decides, reserves the right not to proceed with the competition at any stage.

(ii) Technical Parameters for Logo

1. The participant should submit the Logo as an attachment file in JPG or PNG format with a minimum size of 4"x 4" (inches).
2. The winner of the competition shall be required to submit the design in an editable and open file format.
3. Designs submitted should not have an imprint or a watermark.
4. Logo should preferably be designed in colours.
5. Photographs in the logo are not accepted.

(iii) Evaluation Criteria

1. All entries received within the due date, will be evaluated by a Selection Committee which would be constituted by IIT Delhi. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final and binding on all the contestants. Entries will be judged and selected on the basis of creativity, simplicity, artistic merit and visual impact and how well they communicate the concept of SATHI. All the three SATHI centres (IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur and BHU) will select two logos each and forward them to the DST. An evaluation committee of the DST will select one logo out of the six.
2. The Logo design of the two successful entries will be duly acknowledged and rewarded rupees 10,000 each by IIT Delhi and appropriately by DST for the chosen logo. However, selected entries will be intellectual property of the DST and the designer will not have any right over it.
