The extended campus of IIT Delhi at Sonipat in Haryana could be an apt destination for you.
Situated at a distance of around 60 kms from IIT Delhi, the Innovation Centre for Education(ICE), spread over 10 acres, is being created as a modern eco friendly ‘Gurukul’ to consolidate and enhance teaching-learning/pedagogical research activities and conduct the same more effectively for a greater impact on the educational landscape. The centre that is scheduled to become functional from end of June 2017, will gradually emerge as an epicentre of academic and industry fusions. It is aimed to become a platform where people from a broad spectrum of scientific and industrial community can collaborate in multi-disciplinary areas.

Salient features of the Complex:
Though the entire building is a one integral complex, for the ease of understanding it may be divided into three major blocks as follows:
- Auditorium – 466 seats capacity
- Academic Block (Ground + 3 Storeys)
- Residential Block (Ground + 4 Storeys)
- Basement (common for the entire complex) – with capacity of parking 365 Four Wheelers
Auditorium: Has a capacity of 466 audience, equipped with State-of- the-art Audio-Video and Lighting systems and provision for “Live transmission/streaming”. This can be used for large conferences, seminars, film screenings, theatre and cultural programmes.
Academic Block: A G+3 storied structure comprising of 2 Lecture Halls of 100 seats capacity each and 8 smaller adjoining halls for special usage. There are also two 40 seat capacity rooms that can be ideal for small functions like conferences, board meetings, presentations, workshops, seminars and parties.
All classrooms/lecture halls are digital classrooms, fully equipped with facilities for recording, editing, storage and conferencing with other locations through internet.
In addition to the lecture halls/class rooms, a state-of- the-art Video Studio for broadcasting and Web Studio for preparation of teaching material are also being built. The Academic Block also houses conference rooms, group discussion rooms, meeting rooms, recess/break areas, informal discussion areas etc.
Residential Block: A G+4 storied building with 140 two-Seater (twin sharing) rooms and 10 Suites for a comfortable stay. All the rooms are embellished with beautiful interiors, modular kitchens and excellent amenities. Internet and TV are available. Catering, laundry and other necessary home keeping facilities would be made available. The Dining Hall and the Multi-cuisine Food Court will offer a variety of menu options under one roof.
Green Features of the Building:
- A GRIHA compliant project ( 4 star rating )
- Green Campus – Approx 50% of plot area earmarked for green spaces & water bodies
- Specially designed cavity walls for better thermal insulation. This significantly brings down the energy consumption for cooling.
- Use of energy efficient electrical fittings & fixtures
- Use of low flow plumbing fixtures
- Use of treated STP water for flushing (Dual Plumbing System installed) making the building, a zero discharge site.
- Low lying area of the site utilised to develop into a natural water body
- Rain Water Harvesting system to recharge the ground water
- 500 Kw Rooftop Solar Power Plant

The Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) is the nodal counter for providing all the logistic arrangements. FITT would provide one- stop centre for organising events including transportation. While the prices have been fixed by FITT, discount would be offered for Institute activities and special packages.
